Why in the News?<\/h2>\n

Recently PM Modi has inaugurated the Diamond Jubilee celebration of the Supreme Court and unveiled several technology initiatives.<\/p>\n

What are the various technology initiatives launched?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
Aspect<\/strong><\/td>\nDetails<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Digital Supreme Court Reports (Digi SCR)<\/strong><\/td>\n1. It will provide Supreme Court judgments to the citizens of the country free of cost and in electronic format<\/span>.
\n2. The Key features of digital SCR include access to all 519 volumes of Supreme Court reports since 1950<\/span> in a user-friendly, open access digital format.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Digital Courts 2.0 application<\/strong><\/td>\n1. It is a recent initiative under the e-Courts project<\/a> which aims to provide district court judges with electronic access to court records.<\/span>
\n2. It also uses artificial intelligence (AI)<\/span> to transcribe speech into text instantly.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
New website of the Supreme Court<\/strong><\/td>\nThe new website offers bilingual English and Hindi formats<\/span>, along with a user-friendly interface redesign.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

\u00a0What are the other initiatives for courts in India?<\/h2>\n

1) National Judicial Data Grid (NJDG)<\/strong>–<\/a> It is a database of orders, judgments and case details<\/span> of 18,735 District & Subordinate Courts and High Courts. It was created as an online platform under the<\/span> eCourts Project<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

2) AI-powered portals<\/strong>–
\na<\/strong>. SUPACE (Supreme Court Portal for Assistance in Court\u2019s Efficiency)<\/span>– AI based portal for making the research work easier for judges.
\nb.<\/strong> SUVAS (Supreme Court Vidhik Anuvaad Software)–<\/span><\/span> AI tool developed for the Supreme Court. It helps in translating judgments into various regional languages.<\/p>\n
