Why in the news?<\/h2>\n

The Indian Navy’s INS Sumitra has recently rescued fishermen hijacked by pirates along the east coast of Somalia and the Gulf of Aden.<\/p>\n

About INS Sumitra<\/h2>\n

1) It is the fourth and last Saryu-class patrol vessel<\/span> of the Indian Navy.
\n2) It is indigenously designed and constructed by Goa Shipyard Limited<\/span>.
\n3) It was used in “Operation Rahat<\/span>” in 2015 to rescue 350 Indian citizens stranded in Yemen.<\/p>\n
