Auroville is a universal township in the making for a population of up to 50,000 people from around the world.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Founder<\/strong>&#8211; It was founded in 1968 by <strong>Mirra Alfassa<\/strong> (known as &#8220;the Mother&#8221;) and designed by architect Roger Ange.<\/p>\n<p>Auroville has its origins in the <strong>French language, &#8220;Aurore&#8221; meaning dawn and &#8220;Ville&#8221; meaning<\/strong> village\/city. Additionally, it is named after <strong>Sri Aurobindo.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Objective<\/h2>\n<p>&#8211; To realise human unity \u2013 in diversity.<br \/>\n&#8211; To ensure sustainable living and addressing the future cultural, environmental, social and spiritual needs of mankind.<\/p>\n<h2>About Sri Aurobindo<\/h2>\n<p>He was born in Calcutta on 15th August 1872. He was a<strong> yogi, seer, philosopher, poet, and Indian nationalist.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Philosophy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Aurobindo&#8217;s life philosophy is a synthesis of idealism, realism, naturalism and pragmatism.<br \/>\nAccording to him, Jnana (knowledge), Bhakti (devotion) and Karma (work ethics) can lead man to the divine path.
