It is a polyphagous pest that causes damage to vegetable, ornamental, and fruit crops.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Spread<\/strong>&#8211; The last two decades have witnessed a drastic extension in the geographic distribution. It is now found in <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">France, Greece, Hawaii, Mauritius, Reunion, Spain, Tanzania and the Netherlands, besides India.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>In India<\/strong>&#8211; This species was first reported on <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Papaya<\/span> from Bengaluru in 2015.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Infestation<\/strong>&#8211; Adults mainly colonize on flowers and underside of leaves whereas larvae suck sap from under surface.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Impact<\/strong>&#8211; Infestation causes heavy flower drop and thereby <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">reduces fruit production<\/span>. Its infestation increases during heavy rainfall of North East monsoon.
