The PM has recently laid the foundation stone for Maa Kamakhya Divya Lok Pariyojana to enhance access and amenities for pilgrims visiting the Kamakhya temple.<\/p>\n

What is Maa Kamakhya Divya Lok Pariyojana?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Objective<\/strong>-To enhance the pilgrimage experience and boosting tourism in Assam.<\/p>\n

Features:<\/strong>
\n1) It is part of the Prime Minister\u2019s Development Initiative for North Eastern Region (PMDevINE) scheme. This corridor draws inspiration from the Kashi-Vishwanath Temple Corridor in Varanasi.
\n2) It will restore six major hidden temples within the Kamakhya complex.<\/p>\n

Religious significance<\/strong>– It is one of the 51 shaktipeethas. Kamakhya is considered the goddess of fertility.<\/span><\/p>\n

Architectural features:<\/strong>
\n1) The temple’s architectural shape is a combination of the traditional nagara<\/span> and saracenic<\/span> styles. This hybrid architecture is sometimes called the Nilachal<\/span> type, named after the hill where it’s located.
\n2) The temple has a distinctive beehive-like shikhara (dome). The dome is adorned with sculptured panels and images of various Hindu deities<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Festival<\/strong>-Kamakhya Temple hosts the Ambubachi Mela<\/span>. This is an annual festival<\/span> celebrating the menstruation<\/span> of the goddess.<\/p>\n
