Vice-President of India has recently inaugurated the World Sustainable Development Summit in Delhi in February 2024.<\/p>\n

Introduction<\/strong>-It is an annual flagship<\/span> multistakeholder convening. This was previously called as Delhi Sustainable Development Summit<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Established in<\/strong> \u2013 2001.<\/p>\n

Organized by<\/strong> \u2013 The Energy and Resources Institute<\/span> (TERI).<\/p>\n

Parties involved<\/strong> \u2013 Ministries of Earth Sciences, New and Renewable Energy and Environment, Forests, and Climate Change (MoEFCC).<\/p>\n

Objective<\/strong> \u2013 To mobilize opinion-makers to address issues concerning sustainable development<\/span> and climate change<\/span>.<\/p>\n

NOTE<\/strong>-It is the only independently convened international summit<\/span> on sustainable development and environment, based in the Global South<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Key facts about World Sustainable Development Summit-2024<\/h2>\n

1) Main theme<\/strong> \u2013 Leadership for Sustainable Development<\/a> and Climate Justice.<\/p>\n

2) Topics for<\/strong> Discussion <\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Integrating SD, nature-based solutions<\/span>, adaptation and resilience<\/span>, sustainable consumption and lifestyles, addressing the energy trilemma<\/span>, and climate action.<\/p>\n

3) Important publication<\/strong>-“Vasundhara Magazine<\/span>” \u2013 Its 14th edition titled \u2018EquiClimate\u2019, based on the theme \u2018Climate Injustice: Vulnerabilities of the Vulnerable<\/span>\u2019 will be introduced.<\/p>\n

4) Awareness generation<\/strong> -“Cool it for the climate<\/span>” \u2013 As a behaviour change campaign, it organizes a poster-making competition for school students<\/span> aimed to promote simple sustainable practices<\/span>.<\/p>\n

About The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI)<\/h2>\n

Established<\/strong>-It was established in 1974 as an information centre on energy issues.<\/span><\/p>\n

Introduction<\/strong>-It is a leading think tank<\/span> dedicated to conducting research for sustainable development of India and the Global South<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Areas of wor<\/strong>k-It is an independent, multi-dimensional organization, with capabilities in research<\/span>, policy<\/span>, consultancy<\/span>, and implementation<\/span>.<\/p>\n
