Why in the news?<\/h2>\n

The Quality Council of India (QCI) and ONDC have recently announced the launch of the DigiReady Certification (DRC) portal.<\/p>\n

Launched by<\/strong>-The Quality Council of India<\/span> (QCI) and the Open Network for Digital Commerce<\/span><\/a> (ONDC)<\/p>\n

Objective<\/strong>-To assess and certify digital readiness of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) entities.<\/span><\/p>\n

Eligible entities<\/strong>-This portal is open for self-assessment to all Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and small retailers.<\/span><\/p>\n

Features of portal<\/strong>-1) MSMEs can evaluate their preparedness to seamlessly onboard as sellers on the ONDC platform.
\n2) This portal will ensure that MSMEs and small retailers can integrate seamlessl<\/span>y into existing digitized<\/span> workflows.
\n3) The certification process evaluates various aspects of digital readiness<\/span>. This includes the presence of necessary documentation for online operations<\/span>, proficiency in using software<\/span> and technology etc.<\/p>\n

Significance of DigiReady Certification portal<\/h2>\n

1) It will empower<\/span> MSMEs and make e-commerce<\/span> more inclusive<\/span> and accessible<\/span>.<\/p>\n

2) It will amplify MSMEs potential<\/span> to thrive in the digital economy<\/span>.<\/p>\n

3) It will expand their digital capabilities<\/span> and business potential.<\/p>\n

About Quality Council of India<\/h2>\n

Established<\/strong>-It was established in 1997 jointly by the Department for Promotion of Industry & Internal Trade (DPIIT), the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, and the Indian industry<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Nature of body<\/strong>-It is registered as a non-profit organization<\/span> under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860.<\/p>\n

Mode of operation<\/strong>-It is operated through the constituent Boards of QCI<\/span>, primarily the National Accreditation Board for Certification Bodies (NABCB), and the National Accreditation Board for Testing & Calibration Laboratories (NABL).<\/p>\n

Composition<\/strong>-It is governed by a Council of 38 members<\/span> with equal representations of government, industry and consumers.<\/p>\n

Chairman of the body<\/strong>-The Chairman of QCI is appointed by the Prime Minister<\/span> on the recommendation of the industry to the government.<\/p>\n

NOTE-Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC)<\/strong>-It is an open-source network set up to enable buyers and sellers to transact with each other irrespective of the e-commerce platform on which either of them are registered.<\/p>\n
