Why in the news?<\/h2>\n

The RMNCAH+N strategy promotes links between various interventions across thematic areas to enhance coverage of health care services.<\/p>\n

About RMNCAH+N Strategy<\/h2>\n

Introduction<\/strong>– The Government of India implements Reproductive Maternal Newborn Child Adolescent Health Plus Nutrition (RMNCAH+N) strategy under National Health Mission.<\/p>\n

Objective<\/strong>– To address the problem of anemia and malnutrition<\/span> among women and children across the county<\/p>\n

Various intervention under RMNCAH+N strategy<\/h2>\n

1) Mothers\u2019 Absolute Affection (MAA)<\/strong>-It is implemented to improve breastfeeding<\/span> coverage which includes early initiation of breastfeeding and exclusive breastfeeding for first six months<\/p>\n

2) Nutrition Rehabilitation Centres (NRCs)<\/strong>-They are set up at public health facilities<\/span> to provide in-patient medical and nutritional care to children under 5 years<\/span> of age suffering from Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) with medical complications.<\/p>\n

3) Anemia Mukt Bharat (AMB)<\/strong> -This programme is implemented to reduce anemia<\/span> among six beneficiaries age group – children (6-59 months), children (5-9 years), adolescents (10-19 years), pregnant and lactating women and in women of reproductive age group (15-49 years) in life cycle approach through implementation of six interventions via robust institutional mechanism.<\/p>\n

4) National Deworming Day (NDD)<\/strong>-Under this programme, albendazole tablets<\/span> are administered in a single fixed day approach via schools and anganwadi centres in two rounds (February and August) to reduce the soil transmitted helminth (STH) infestation among all children and adolescents (1-19 years).<\/p>\n

5) Monthly Village Health, Sanitation and Nutrition Day (VHSND)<\/strong>-It is an outreach activity at Anganwadi centers for provision of maternal and child care<\/span> including nutrition in convergence with the ICDS.<\/p>\n

6) MCP Card and Safe Motherhood Booklet<\/strong>-These are distributed to the pregnant women for educating them on diet, rest, danger signs of pregnancy<\/span>, benefit schemes and institutional deliveries.<\/p>\n
