Recently, a male tiger from the Kanha Tiger Reserve has been transferred to the Mukundpur Safari located in Satna.<\/p>\n

About<\/strong><\/td>\n1. Kanha Tiger Reserve, also called Kanha\u2013Kisli National<\/span> Park, is a major tiger reserve and the largest national park of the Madhya Pradesh, India.<\/span>
\n2. It is also\u00a0the largest National Park in Central India.<\/span>
\n3. Presently, Kanha area is split into two protected zones<\/span>: Hallon and Banjar.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Location<\/strong><\/td>\n1. It is situated within the Mandla and Balaghat districts<\/span> of Madhya Pradesh.
\n2. It lies in the Maikal range of the Satpura Mountains.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
History<\/strong><\/td>\nKanha National Park was established in 1955<\/span> and was designated as the Kanha Tiger Reserve in 1973<\/span>.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Distinct feature<\/strong><\/td>\nIt is the first tiger reserve in India<\/span> to have an official mascot<\/span> named ‘Bhoorsingh the Barasingha<\/span>‘(IUCN Status: Vulnerable).<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Vegetation<\/strong><\/td>\nTropical moist deciduous forests.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Flora<\/strong><\/td>\nThe park mainly consist of moist Sal<\/span> and mixed deciduous forest where Bamboo, Tendu, Sal, Jamun, Arjun, and Lendia thrive.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Fauna<\/strong><\/td>\n1. The Park is globally recognized for saving the Barasingha<\/span> from extinction and hosting the world’s last population of this deer species.
\n2. Other species found include tiger<\/span>, leopard, dhole<\/span>, bear, gaur<\/span>, Indian python, and more.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Note<\/strong>– Kanha used to be the home of the Baiga tribe<\/span>, a semi-nomadic group from central India. They were relocated as part of efforts to protect the critical tiger habitat.<\/p>\n
