It used <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">infrared light<\/span> to observe the universe.<br \/>\n2) It could fly into the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">stratosphere<\/span> at 38,000-45,000 feet, putting it above <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">99 percent of Earth\u2019s infrared-blocking atmosphere. <span style=\"color: #333333;\">This<\/span> <\/span>allowed the astronomers to study the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">solar system and beyond<\/span>.<br \/>\n3) It\u00a0could observe the universe in the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">widest range<\/span> of infrared light.<br \/>\n4) The airplane is capable of<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> ten-hour flights<\/span>, with flight paths chosen to keep ahead of the sunrise and maximize the amount of<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> darkness<\/span>.<br \/>\n5) Its <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">ease of mobility<\/span> allowed researchers to make observations from <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">almost anywhere<\/span> in the world.
