The\u00a0name &#8216;Melghat&#8217; means the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">confluence<\/span> of various &#8216;ghats&#8217; or valleys.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 15.8182%;\"><strong>Location<\/strong><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 84.1818%;\">It is located on the southern offshoot of the Satpura Hill Range in Central India, calle<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">d<\/span> Gavilgarh Hill<\/span> in Maharashtra.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 15.8182%;\"><strong>Vegetation<\/strong><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 84.1818%;\">The forest is tropical <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">dry deciduous<\/span> in nature, dominated by teak.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 15.8182%;\"><strong>Rivers<\/strong><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 84.1818%;\">The reserve is a catchment area for five major rivers: the Khandu, Khapra, Sipna, Gadga, and Dolar. These are tributaries of the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">river Tapti<\/span>.<br \/>\nThe <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Tapti River<\/span> and the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Gawilgadh ridge<\/span> of the Satpura Range form the boundaries of the reserve.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 15.8182%;\"><strong>Major tribes<\/strong><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 84.1818%;\">The <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Korkus<\/span> are the largest tribal community in Melghat.
