Why in the news?<\/h2>\n

Archaeologists have recently discovered a Harappan-era fortified settlement named Morodharo near Dholavira.<\/p>\n

Description<\/strong><\/td>\nIt is a fortified settlement<\/span> dating back to the Harappan-era<\/span>.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Location<\/strong><\/td>\nKutch<\/span> District, Gujarat<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Features<\/strong><\/td>\n1) The settlement looks mature<\/span> (2,600-1,900BCE) to late (1,900-1,300 BCE) Harappan.
\n2) Burial cairns<\/span>, which are mounds of stones to demarcate a boundary, are also found here.
\n3) Harappan pottery with perforated jar sherds<\/span>, reserved slipware<\/span>, and terracotta cakes were unearthed.
\n4) All these items have a striking resemblance<\/span> to those found in Dholavira.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Significance<\/strong><\/td>\nAs per archaeologist, this site and Dholavira both were dependent on the sea. This suggests the presence of navigable waters<\/span> near Rann of Kutch<\/span> in ancient times.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
