He took Vatapi (Badami in Bagalkot district, Karnataka) under his control and made it his capital.<br \/>\nHistorians refer to Pulakesi I and his <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">descendants<\/span> as the Chalukyas of Badami.<\/p>\n<p>2) <strong>Art and Architecture<\/strong>&#8211; It saw the evolution and proliferation of a new style of architecture known as <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Vesara<\/span>, a combination of the South Indian and the North Indian building styles.<br \/>\nThe rock-cut temples of <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Pattadakal<\/span>, a <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">UNESCO World Heritage Site<\/span>.\u00a0Badami, and Aihole are the most celebrated monuments<\/p>\n<p>3) <strong>Coinage<\/strong>&#8211; Their coins had Nagari and Kannada legends. They minted coins with symbols of <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">temples<\/span>, <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">lion<\/span> or boar facing right, and the lotus.<\/p>\n<p>4) <strong>Religion<\/strong>&#8211; They initially followed <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Vedic Hinduism<\/span>. Later, from the time of Vikramaditya I, the people took an inclination towards Shaivism, and sects like<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> Pashupata<\/span>, <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Kapalikas<\/span>, and <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Kalamukhas<\/span> emerged.<br \/>\nThey also patronised <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Jainism<\/span>.
