Why in the news?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Recently, the 5th edition of the Joint Military Exercise \u2018DHARMA GUARDIAN\u2019<\/strong> commenced at Mahajan Field Firing Ranges in Rajasthan, India.<\/p>\n

Description<\/strong><\/td>\n1) Dharma Guardian\u2019 is a bilateral military exercise held alternately in India and Japan.
\n<\/span>2) It is the 5th edition<\/span>\u00a0of the exercise.
\n3) The Japanese contingent is being represented by soldiers of the 34th Infantry Regiment,<\/span> and the Indian Army contingent is being represented by a battalion of the Rajputana Rifles.<\/span>
\n4) The exercise will also showcase India\u2019s \u2018Atmanirbhar Bharat<\/a>\u2019 initiative<\/span>\u00a0and the growing defense industrial capability of the country.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Frequency<\/strong><\/td>\nIt is an annual exercise.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Objective<\/strong><\/td>\n1) To foster Military Cooperation and enhance combined capabilities<\/span> to execute joint operations in semi-urban environment under Chapter VII of United Nations Charter.
\n2) To develop inter-operability, bonhomie and camaraderie<\/span> between troops<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Areas of cooperation<\/strong><\/td>\n1) The exercise will focus on the basics of high-level physical fitness, joint planning and special weapons skills<\/span>.
\n2) Sharing their best practices in Tactics, Techniques and Procedures of conducting tactical operations.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
