Signed<\/strong>-The agreement was <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">signed in December 1994<\/span> and became legally effective in April 1998.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Objective<\/strong>&#8211; The aim of the ECT is to encourage <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">long-term cooperation in the energy<\/span> sector, emphasizing complementary interests and mutual advantages.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Areas Covered<\/strong>&#8211; It covers various facets of <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">commercial energy operations<\/span>, including trade, transit, investments, and energy efficiency.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5. Signatories<\/strong>&#8211; Presently, there are <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">56 signatories<\/span> and contracting parties to the Energy Charter Treaty (ECT), which include both the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">European Union<\/span> and <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Euratom (European Atomic Energy Community).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>6. Established Energy Charter Conference<\/strong>&#8211; It founded the Energy Charter Conference, an <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">inter-governmental organization<\/span> that convenes regularly to address matters concerning energy collaboration.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>What is its Significance?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>1. Promoting Energy Cooperation<\/strong>: It encourages cooperation among countries in the energy sector, promoting discussions and teamwork on energy-related matters.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Investment Protection<\/strong>: The ECT <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">safeguards foreign investments in the energy sector<\/span>. This ensures a stable and predictable environment for investment, which is important for attracting capital and fostering economic growth in the energy industry.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3.
