Why in the News?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Recently, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) handed over SAMAR assessment certificates to nine Industry Partners at the MSME Defence Expo 2024.<\/p>\n

About\u00a0<\/strong><\/td>\nSystem for Advance Manufacturing Assessment and Rating (SAMAR) certificate is a benchmark to measure the competency of defence manufacturing enterprises<\/span>.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Partner organisations<\/strong><\/td>\nIt is an outcome of the collaboration between DRDO<\/span> and Quality Council of India<\/span> (QCI<\/span>)<\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Aim\/Objective<\/strong><\/td>\n1. To strengthen the defence manufacturing ecosystem<\/span> in the country and making India self- reliant in defence manufacturing.
\n2. To provide an objective assessment of manufacturing capability<\/span> of Defence Manufacturing Enterprises.
\n3. Enable enterprises to benchmark their performance across a range of business capabilities<\/span> to enhance quality, reliability and competitiveness.
\n4. Create a credible database of Defence manufacturers<\/span> for ease in vendor selection and development.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Eligibility<\/strong><\/td>\nAll defence manufacturing enterprises, both MSME and Large enterprises<\/span>, are eligible to apply for this certification. The certification is based on a maturity assessment model<\/span> developed by QCI<\/span> and is applicable to all defence manufacturing enterprises i.e., micro, small, medium and large enterprises.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Validity<\/strong><\/td>\nIt is valid for a period of 2 years<\/span> from the date of issuance of certificate.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
