Recently, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has issued a warning to mobile phone users regarding the risk of juice jacking.<\/p>\n

1. Term coined<\/strong>– The term “juice jacking” was first coined in 2011 by investigative journalist Brian Krebs.<\/span><\/p>\n

2. About<\/strong>– It is a form of cyberattack<\/span> where hackers manipulate public USB charging ports to steal data from connected devices<\/span> by infecting them with malware or altering hardware.<\/p>\n

3. Hackers target<\/strong>– Hackers utilize this attack to steal users’ passwords<\/span>, credit card details<\/span>, addresses<\/span>, and other sensitive data<\/span> stored on the targeted device.<\/p>\n

4. Common places of incidents<\/strong>– This form of attack has become increasingly concerning, with reported incidents occurring in various public spaces including airports, hotels<\/span>, and shopping centers<\/span>.<\/p>\n

5.<\/strong> RBI directive<\/strong>– RBI stressed the need to safeguard personal and financial data when using mobile devices.<\/p>\n

How to prevent from such cyber attacks?<\/h2>\n

1.<\/strong> Mobile phone users should utilize their personal chargers<\/span> and refrain from connecting their devices to public USB ports.<\/p>\n

2.<\/strong> Additionally, employing a virtual private network (VPN)<\/a><\/span> and ensuring devices are equipped with the latest security updates can aid in reducing the vulnerability to cyberattacks.<\/p>\n
