{"id":28554,"date":"2018-10-24T12:58:26","date_gmt":"2018-10-24T07:28:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=28554"},"modified":"2018-10-24T12:58:26","modified_gmt":"2018-10-24T07:28:26","slug":"govt-banks-must-boost-monitoring-training-systems","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/govt-banks-must-boost-monitoring-training-systems\/","title":{"rendered":"Govt. banks must boost monitoring, training systems\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/todays-paper\/tp-business\/govt-banks-must-boost-monitoring-training-systems\/article24307192.ece\"><strong>Govt. banks must boost monitoring, training systems\u2019<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>News:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Reserve Bank of India issues regulatory instructions to banks on various matters, including customer service.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong><u>Important facts:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>2.Banking codes and standard board of India (BCSBI) was set up in 2006.<\/p>\n<p>3.Accordingly, BCSBI had evolved two codes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Code of Bank\u2019s commitment to customers<\/li>\n<li>The Code of banks commitment to micro and small enterprises.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>4.Banking codes are different from norms:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The codes are a voluntarily declared commitment, as a self regulation, of member-banks to their customers explaining how they will deal with their customers.<\/li>\n<li>The codes complement regulatory guidelines.<\/li>\n<li>They do not replace or supersede regulatory guidelines.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>5.Building awareness among customers become primary motive because:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The code explain how banks will deal with their customers in their day-to-day operations.<\/li>\n<li>For better implementation of code it is necessary that both customers\u00a0 and service providers need to be aware of it<\/li>\n<li>BCSBI is making efforts to create and enhance awareness about codes among the customers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>6.Code for senior citizens:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>There is no separate code for senior citizen.<\/li>\n<li>But, the Code of Bank\u2019s Commitment to Customers contains a dedicated section for senior citizen and differently-abled customers of banks.<\/li>\n<li>The focus of provisions covered under this section is on ease of availing banking services in a rightful manner.<\/li>\n<li>This contains a specific reference to commitments of member-banks to senior citizens.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>7.Areas that particularly need improvement for better banking standards delivery to customers:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>There is a need for strengthening awareness about relevant code commitments and their importance among the staff at bank branches.<\/li>\n<li>The banks, particularly public sector banks, need to strengthen their monitoring and training systems coupled with an element of accountability.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Govt. banks must boost monitoring, training systems\u2019 News: Reserve Bank of India issues regulatory instructions to banks on various matters, including customer service.
