Why in the news?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Recently, the Acing Development of Innovative Technologies with iDEX (ADITI) scheme was launched by Department of Defence Production.<\/p>\n

Description<\/strong><\/td>\n1. The Department of Defence Production launched the ADITI scheme during the annual Defence Innovation Event \u2013 DefConnect 2024<\/span> held in New Delhi.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Objective<\/strong><\/td>\nTo create an ecosystem for fostering innovation and technology development in defence and aerospace by engaging industries, startups and academia.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Concerned Ministry<\/strong><\/td>\nDepartment of Defence Production<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Funding<\/strong><\/td>\nRs 750 crore<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Salient features<\/strong><\/td>\n1. ADITI specifically focuses on promoting innovations in critical and strategic defence technologies<\/span> such as ammunition and explosives, armaments, aerospace, surveillance, sensors, propulsion, artificial intelligence and other future technologies.
\n2. It aims to develop about 30 deep-tech critical and strategic technologies<\/span> in the proposed timeframe.
\n3. Technology Watch Tool<\/span> aims to bridge gap between armed forces\u2019 requirements and innovation ecosystem capabilities<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Benefits<\/strong><\/td>\nThe ADITI scheme is expected to provide major benefits to the defence sector in multiple ways:<\/p>\n

i) The scheme will reduce import dependence in critical technologies and help India to be self-reliant.<\/span>
\nii) The development of advanced technologies will boost defence capabilities and preparedness.<\/span>
\niii) The collaboration between industry, academia and armed forces will lead to knowledge enhancement.<\/span>
\niv)The scheme will stimulate technology innovation, manufacturing and job creation.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
