The new spaceport is\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">dedicated to Small Satellite Launch Vehicles (SSLVs)\u00a0<\/span>developed by the private sector.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">4. Indian Space Research Organization launched a <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Rohini sounding rocket<\/span> from a mobile launch pad to mark the beginning of work at the site.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"TextRun SCXW268423404 BCX8\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW268423404 BCX8\">Reasons why launching sites are <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW268423404 BCX8\">generally located<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW268423404 BCX8\"> on the Eastern Coast:<\/span><\/span><span class=\"EOP SCXW268423404 BCX8\" data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">1. The eastern coast location offers several benefits for rocket launches:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>a. Fuel Savings<\/strong>: Launching rockets from the eastern coast harnesses Earth&#8217;s rotation, <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">granting them initial velocity<\/span> and<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> reducing fuel requirements for orbit.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>b. Equatorial Position<\/strong>: The spaceport\u2019s proximity to the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Equator<\/span>\u00a0further enhances launch efficiency. Rockets launched closer to the Equator receive an additional boost from the Earth\u2019s rotational speed, making it <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">easier to reach orbit.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>The new spaceport advantages over the Sriharikota facility:<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">1. <strong>Eliminating Diversion Due to Sri Lanka\u2019s Airspace<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">a. Currently, rockets launched from the existing spaceport at <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Sriharikota <\/span>(Andhra Pradesh)\u00a0 must head east before turning south. This trajectory is necessary to avoid flying over the airspace of neighboring <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Sri Lanka.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">b. Rockets can now take a more direct path without encroaching on Sri Lanka&#8217;s airspace, enhancing launch efficiency.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>2. Proximity to Isro\u2019s Propulsion Complex<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">a. Isro\u2019s <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">propulsion complex<\/span>\u00a0is located in\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Mahendragiri,<\/span> which is much closer to Kulasekarapattinam (approximately\u00a088 km) than to Sriharikota (approximately\u00a0780 km).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">b.
