Recently, the union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Commerce and Industry and Textiles launched \u2018e-Kisan Upaj Nidhi\u2019 (Digital Gateway).<\/p>\n

What is \u2018e-Kisan Upaj Nidhi\u2019?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

About<\/strong><\/td>\nIt is a digital gateway of\u00a0Warehousing Development and Regulatory Authority (WDRA).<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Objective<\/strong><\/td>\nTo ease the farmers\u2019 warehousing logistics<\/span> and aid the farmers in receiving fair prices for their produce.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Nodal ministry<\/strong><\/td>\nIt is an initiative of the Department of Consumer Affairs, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution and\u00a0Commerce and Industry and Textiles<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Salient features<\/strong><\/td>\n1) E-Kisan Upaj Nidhi\u2019 platform with its simplified digital process can ease the procedure of farmers’ storage at any registered WDRA warehouse for a period of 6 months at 7% interest per annum.
\n2) It will integrate e-Kisan Upaj Nidhi and e-NAM to enables farmers to leverage interconnected markets, extending benefits beyond government<\/span>\u00a0Minimum Support Price (MSP).<\/a><\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Significance<\/strong><\/td>\nThis initiative with no collateral, extra security deposit policy <\/span>aims to\u00a0prevent distress sales by farmers,<\/span>\u00a0enabling better post-harvest storage opportunities.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

What is Warehousing Development and Regulatory Authority (WDRA)?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

  1. About<\/strong>– WDRA operates as a statutory authority<\/span> under the Department of Food and Public Distribution.<\/span> Its headquarter<\/span> is at\u00a0New Delhi.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Established<\/strong>– It was established in October 2010 under the Warehousing (Development and Regulation) Act, 2007.<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Aim<\/strong><\/span>– to develop and regulate warehouses, promote negotiability of warehouse receipts, and facilitate orderly growth<\/span> of the warehousing business in India.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
