Why in the News?<\/h2>\n

Atal Innovation Mission (AIM)<\/span> under NITI Aayog and Meta<\/span> have collaborated to set up Frontier Technology Labs (FTLs) in schools deemed strategically important<\/span>.<\/p>\n

This partnership aims to make frontier technologies<\/span> accessible to everyone and encourage innovation among students.<\/p>\n

What are Frontier Technology Labs (FTLs)?<\/h2>\n

1. About: <\/strong>
\na.<\/strong> The FTL is an advanced version of the Atal Tinkering Lab<\/span>, featuring cutting-edge infrastructure that includes all elements<\/span> found within the Tinkering Lab<\/span>.
\nb.<\/strong> It enables students to innovate using technologies<\/span> such as Artificial Intelligence<\/span>, Augmented & Virtual Reality, Blockchain<\/span>, Cybersecurity, Robotics<\/span>, 3D Printing, and Internet of Things.<\/p>\n

2. Component of Meta\u2019s Education to Entrepreneurship initiative<\/strong>– The FTLs are a component of Meta\u2019s Education to Entrepreneurship program<\/a>, which started in September 2023.This initiative aims to connect students, youth, workers, and micro-entrepreneurs with advanced technologies, bringing digital skills to the grassroots level.<\/p>\n

3. Funding<\/strong>– Meta<\/span> will finance the FTLs<\/p>\n

4. Knowledge Partner<\/strong>– Atal Innovation Mission<\/a><\/p>\n

About Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL)<\/h2>\n

1. About<\/strong>– It is an initiative by the Atal Innovation Mission<\/a>, NITI Aayog with the aim of establishing Atal Tinkering Laboratories (ATLs) in schools across India.<\/p>\n

2. Objective-<\/strong>\u00a0To foster curiosity, creativity and imagination in young minds; and inculcate skills such as design mindset, computational thinking, adaptive learning, physical computing etc.<\/p>\n

3. Current Status<\/strong>– Till date, AIM has established 10,000 Atal Tinkering Labs (ATLs)<\/span> in schools across 722 districts throughout India<\/span>.<\/p>\n

What are frontier technologies?<\/h2>\n

1. About<\/strong>-It is defined as potentially disruptive technology that can address large-scale challenges<\/span>. It is an intersection where radical forward-thinking and real-world implementation meet.<\/p>\n

2.<\/strong> Examples<\/strong>–\u00a0 AI, robotics, 3D printing, Internet of Things among others.<\/p>\n
