{"id":28677,"date":"2018-10-24T14:18:53","date_gmt":"2018-10-24T08:48:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=28677"},"modified":"2018-10-24T14:18:53","modified_gmt":"2018-10-24T08:48:53","slug":"aiib-to-invest-200-mn-in-infra-fund","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/aiib-to-invest-200-mn-in-infra-fund\/","title":{"rendered":"AIIB to invest $200 mn in infra fund"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/todays-paper\/tp-business\/aiib-to-invest-200-mn-in-infra-fund\/article24249078.ece\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">AIIB to invest $200 mn in infra fund<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>News:<\/b><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The board of Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank(AIIB) has approved $ 100 million investment in the National Infrastructure and Investment Fund (NIIF). <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td><b>AIIB:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">AIIB has 86 countries as its members.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">AIIB is a multilateral development bank that aims to support the building of infrastructure in the Asia Pacific region.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The bank currently has 86 member states from around the world.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The bank started operation after the agreement entered into force on 25 December 2015.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Major economies that are not member include Japan, Mexico, Nifgeria , that \u00a0United States.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Important facts:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2. AIIB is expected to approve $100million more in later stage in addition to $100million for NIIF.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3. India is hosting annual meeting of AIIB for the first time, which would be addressed by PM Narendra Modi.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">4. India is the second largest shareholder in AIIB after China and is also the largest recipient of funds from the multilateral agency.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">5. Nearly 25% of the total funds committed by AIIB have been committed for projects in India, both in the government sector and the private sector.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">6. The Economic Affairs Secretary S.C. Garg said that there will be leverage of 10-12 times in the original investment , which can result in up to $ 2.4 billion flowing into infrastructure projects.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">7. The Beijing-headquartered agency, which started operations in January 2016, has approved $4.4 billion investments so far, including $1.2 billion in India, making the country the largest beneficiary so far.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">8.
