The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI),<\/a> in its latest regulations, has mandated index providers overseeing<\/span> “significant indices<\/span>” linked to Indian securities to register with the SEBI<\/span>. This measure aims to improve transparency in the governance of financial benchmarks indices.<\/p>\n

1.<\/strong> The regulations necessitate index providers such as NSE Indices and Asia Index (AIPL) to register with SEBI. Additionally, they must publicly disclose their methodology documents<\/span> and comply with a code of conduct<\/span>.<\/p>\n

2<\/strong>. Global index providers<\/span> like MSCI, Nasdaq, and FTSE Russell might be exempted<\/span> from registration requirements unless their indices are significantly utilized by domestic asset managers<\/span>.<\/p>\n

What are Indices?<\/h2>\n
