Why in the News?<\/h2>\n

The Indian Railways aims to establish mega railway terminals featuring multi-modal connectivity<\/span> in aspirational cities with a population of more than 10 lakh nationwide<\/span>.<\/p>\n

The programme is part of the<\/span> infrastructure being developed for Prime Minister Narendra Modi\u2019s \u2018Viksit Bharat\u2019 initiative<\/span>.<\/p>\n

What are Railways multi-modal transport hubs?<\/h2>\n

1. About<\/strong>– These are infrastructure projects created by railway authorities<\/span> to consolidate different modes of transportation<\/span>, including trains, buses, taxis, and other public transit options, at a single site<\/span>.<\/p>\n

2. Critical junctures<\/strong>– These hubs act as pivotal points for passengers to transition between various modes of travel, improving connectivity and ensuring more seamless journeys.<\/p>\n

3. Amenities<\/strong>– These hubs may offer additional amenities like parking, waiting areas<\/span>, and shops<\/span> to accommodate travelers’ needs.<\/p>\n

4.<\/strong> The “PM Gati Shakti Master Plan”<\/strong> has been launched, aiming to boost multi-model connectivity and governance in India for the 21st century.<\/p>\n

What is PM Gati Shakti?<\/h2>\n

1.<\/strong> Gati Shakti is a digital platform<\/span>.<\/p>\n

2.<\/strong> It will bring 16 Ministries including Railways and Roadways together for integrated planning and coordinated implementation of infrastructure connectivity projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
