Pandavula Gutta has recently gained official recognition as the exclusive Geo-heritage site in Telangana.<\/p>\n

What is Pandavula Gutta?<\/h2>\n

1. About<\/strong>– It is an ancient geological marvel<\/span> older than the Himalayas.<\/p>\n

2. Location<\/strong>– It is located in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district in Telangana<\/span>.<\/p>\n

3. Discovery<\/strong>– The discovery of this site dates back to 1990<\/span>.<\/p>\n

4. Features:<\/strong>
\na.<\/strong> The site is rich in paintings, rock shelters<\/span>, and evidence of habitation<\/span>, spanning from the Mesolithic to medieval periods.
\nb.<\/strong> The paintings exhibit geometric designs<\/span> and impressions<\/span> using green, red, yellow<\/span>, and white pigments<\/span>.
\nc.<\/strong> The rock art paintings show animals such as bison, antelope, tiger, and leopard. They also feature shapes like the swastika symbol<\/span>, circles, squares, as well as weapons like bows, arrows, swords, and lances.<\/p>\n

What are Geo-heritage sites?<\/h2>\n

1. About<\/strong>– Geo-heritage encompasses geological features that hold either intrinsic<\/span> or cultural importance. It<\/span><\/span> provides valuable insights into the Earth’s evolution<\/span> or history<\/span> for earth science or educational purposes.<\/p>\n

2. Designated by<\/strong>– Geological Survey of India (GSI) <\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

3. Protection<\/strong>– India, a member of the UNESCO Convention concerning the Protection of the World Cultural<\/span> and Natural Heritage<\/span><\/a>, safeguards these sites with appropriate laws, following global standards.<\/p>\n
