Why in the News?<\/h2>\n

The National Commission for Women (NCW)<\/a> and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) have signed a MoU to combat human trafficking on the Indian Railway network nationwide.<\/p>\n

What are the key objectives of the MoU?<\/h2>\n

1. Prevention and Rescue<\/strong>– The MOU aims to prevent human trafficking and rescue trafficked women through collaborative efforts.<\/p>\n

2. Training and Workshop for RPF personnel<\/strong>– This MoU includes conducting workshops and training for RPF personnel to increase their awareness and response to trafficking incidents.<\/p>\n

3. Awareness campaigns<\/strong>– Awareness campaigns will also be launched for frontline railway staff<\/span> and the public<\/span> to educate them about the signs of trafficking and how to report cases effectively.<\/p>\n

Note<\/strong>– The NCW has also collaborated with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF<\/span>) to combat women trafficking.<\/p>\n

What other initiatives has the RPF undertaken to ensure women security?<\/h2>\n

1. Meri Saheli initiative<\/strong>– It was launched by RPF to provide security to lady passengers in long distance trains particularly travelling alone or those who are vulnerable to crime.<\/p>\n

2. Operation AAHT<\/strong>– Operation AAHT launched to curb human trafficking<\/span>. It involves special teams deployed on long-distance trains or routes, focusing on rescuing victims, especially women and children, from traffickers.<\/p>\n

3. Operation Matrishakti<\/strong>– RPF personnel, especially female officers, provide assistance to pregnant women<\/span> in labor during train journeys <\/span>by going beyond their regular duties.<\/p>\n

4. Operation Dignity<\/strong>– Under this, RPF rescues destitute, helpless, mentally unsound, trafficked adults in need of care and protection. RPF helps them reunite with their families or facilitates relocation to shelter homes in collaboration with NGOs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
