Why in the News?<\/h2>\n

INS Tir and INS Sujata are set to join the upcoming India-Mozambique-Tanzania (IMT) Trilateral (TRILAT) Exercise<\/span> 2024.<\/p>\n

What is IMT Trilateral Exercise 2024?<\/h2>\n

About<\/strong><\/td>\nIt is a joint maritime exercise<\/span> scheduled from 21-29 Mar 24 among the Indian, Mozambique and Tanzania navies<\/span>.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Objectives<\/strong><\/td>\n1.<\/strong> Capability development to address common threats through training and sharing of best practices.
\n2.<\/strong> Enhancing interoperability.
\n3.<\/strong> Strengthening maritime cooperation.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
First Edition<\/strong><\/td>\nThe first edition of IMT TRILAT exercise conducted in Oct 22<\/strong>.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Phases<\/strong><\/td>\nThe current exercise is divided into two phases<\/strong>
\n1. Harbour Phase:<\/strong>
\na.<\/strong> During the harbor phase from March 21st to March 24th, 2024, Naval ships Tir and Sujata will interact with the respective Navies<\/span> at the ports of Zanzibar (Tanzania)<\/span> and Maputo (Mozambique<\/span>).
\nb.<\/strong> This phase will start with a Planning Conference<\/span>, followed by joint harbor training activities such as Damage Control, Fire Fighting, Visit Board Search and Seizure procedures, Medical Lectures, Casualty Evacuation, and Diving operations.
\n2. Sea Phase:<\/strong>
\na.<\/strong> The sea phase of the exercise focuses on practical aspects of countering asymmetric threats<\/span>, Visit Board Search and Seizure procedures, boat handling, maneuvers, and firing exercises.
\nb.<\/strong> Additionally, a joint Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) surveillance is planned during this phase<\/span>.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
