The Minister of External Affairs recently visited Indian Coast Guard ship Samudra Paheredar, which is in Manila Bay in the Philippines, as part of an overseas deployment to ASEAN countries.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

About<\/td>\nIt is a specialised Pollution Control Vessel (PCV)<\/span> of the Indian Coast Guard. It is the second PCV of India<\/span> (the first being ICGS Samudra Prahari).<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Stationed on<\/td>\nEast Coast of India in Vishakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Features<\/td>\na) The ship\u2019s primary role is pollution response at sea. It <\/span><\/span>is equipped with the most advanced and sophisticated pollution response and control equipment for mitigating oil spills.<\/span>
\nb) It includes containment equipment like hi-sprint booms and river booms, recovery devices like skimmers and side sweeping arms.<\/span> The ship is capable of unhindered oil-recovery operations.
\nc) The special features include an integrated platform management system, a power management system and a high-powered external firefighting system.<\/span>
\nd) It is capable of operating one twin-engine ALH\/ Chetak helicopter.\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
