{"id":28868,"date":"2018-10-24T15:19:08","date_gmt":"2018-10-24T09:49:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=28868"},"modified":"2018-10-24T15:19:08","modified_gmt":"2018-10-24T09:49:08","slug":"challenges-may-dampen-glee-over-deocha-pachami","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/challenges-may-dampen-glee-over-deocha-pachami\/","title":{"rendered":"Challenges may dampen glee over Deocha Pachami"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Challenges may dampen glee over Deocha Pachami<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>News:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The West Bengal government has got the permission to mine Deocha Pachami coal block in Birbhum district.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Important Facts:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>Deocha Pachami is among the biggest coal mines in the world with a reserve of more than 2 billion tonnes.<\/li>\n<li>The project is expected to generate one lakh jobs and bring significant investments.<\/li>\n<li>Challenges:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>coals are available at depth of approx. 200-300 meters.<\/li>\n<li>Lack of technology to mine at such depth.<\/li>\n<li>limited use of coal by power plant due to dipping prices of renewable energy.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0large size of land is required to develop the mine.<\/li>\n<li>Initial cost is huge.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li>steps to be taken<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Use of international expertise to develop new mining method.<\/li>\n<li>The mine-capacity has to be large to ensure viability.<\/li>\n<li>There is need to think of alternative use for this coal.
