About-<\/strong> Geographical indication (GI) is a name or sign which is used to identify products originating from a specific geographical location and that location gives it a distinct quality, characteristic.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Regulation<\/strong>&#8211; The GI tags are <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">governed by the Geographical Indications of Goods (Registration and Protection) Act, 1999<\/span>. They are issued by the Geographical Indication Registry, which operates under the Department of Industry Promotion and Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce and Industry.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3.
