Statin is a medicine prescribed to people with a <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">high risk of cardiovascular disease.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>2. They are commonly prescribed <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">cholesterol-lowering drugs<\/span> and are also known as <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>3. \u00a0High cholesterol can lead to arterial plaque accumulation, which may harden or narrow arteries, increasing the risk of heart attacks or strokes due to sudden blood clots.<\/p>\n<p>4. Statins are capable of <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">lowering LDL (low-density lipoprotein or &#8220;bad&#8221; cholesterol)<\/span> by up to 50% or more, thus mitigating artery blockage and enhancing blood flow.<\/p>\n<p>5. These drugs are associated with a <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">decreased risk of heart disease, stroke, and certain blood clots.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>6.
