About<\/strong>&#8211; Shallowfakes, similar to deepfakes, involves altering people&#8217;s images, videos, and voice clips for malicious purposes. However, <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">unlike deepfakes, which requires advanced AI software<\/span>, <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">shallowfakes can be made using basic editing software like Photoshop<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Why term &#8220;shallow&#8221;?<\/strong> &#8211; Shallow Fakes are called so because <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">they involve lower-quality image<\/span> and <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">video editing<\/span> compared to the sophisticated techniques used in Deep Fakes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Used for:<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>a.<\/strong> To <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">fabricate false proof of identity<\/span> or <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">address, such as photo ID documents<\/span> like passports and driver&#8217;s licenses.<br \/>\n<strong>b.<\/strong> To produce <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">counterfeit supporting evidence for claims or transactions<\/span>, such as contracts, agreements, invoices for services, no claims discount certificates, etc.<br \/>\n<strong>c.<\/strong> <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Spreading political narratives and defaming opponents<\/span>, for example, a video depicting AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi singing Shiv Tandav stotra.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Impact<\/strong>&#8211; Due to their simpler creation process, many <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">experts see shallowfakes as posing greater threats than deepfakes<\/span>.<\/p>\n<h2>What are Deepfakes?<\/h2>\n<p>Deepfakes are <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">fake content<\/span> in the form of videos, pictures and audio which are created <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">using powerful artificial intelligence tools<\/span>. Shallowfakes can be created with common editing software and may not require AI or machine learning.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Accessibility<\/strong>&#8211; Shallow fakes are easier for regular people to make and are used more widely compared to deepfakes, which need AI and machine learning.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3.
