The Kovind Panel has recommended a shift to the system of <strong>simultaneous election for the Lok Sabha and the State Legislative Assemblies<\/strong>. The Panel has also recommended two Constitution Amendment Bills to implement the transition. Shifting to a system of simultaneous elections has its benefits. The most tangible benefit is the <strong>reduction in expenditure on elections<\/strong> (by the political parties) along with other <strong>administrative efficiencies<\/strong>. However, several parties have raised valid concerns. The most fundamental concern is the <strong>impact on federal relations and federal polity<\/strong>. There are both benefits and costs of the shift.
