It is a ruined fort located at <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Fort Kochi Beach in Kochi, Kerala.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>3. Fort Emmanuel was a large structure that enclosed an entire township, strengthening Portuguese control in the area.<\/p>\n<p>4. It remained under Portuguese rule until 1683 when it was captured by Dutch colonial forces, who destroyed Portuguese institutions.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">5.<\/span> <span style=\"color: #333333;\">The Dutch held the fort until 1795, when the British took over and by 1806, had demolished most of its walls and bastions.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>6. It was a<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> symbol of the strategic alliance<\/span> between the<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> Maharajah of Kochi and the Monarch of Portugal,<\/span> after whom it was named.<\/p>\n<p>7.
