{"id":29117,"date":"2018-10-24T17:15:57","date_gmt":"2018-10-24T11:45:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=29117"},"modified":"2018-10-24T17:15:57","modified_gmt":"2018-10-24T11:45:57","slug":"a-year-on-udan-is-yet-to-soar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/a-year-on-udan-is-yet-to-soar\/","title":{"rendered":"A year on, UDAN is yet to soar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>A year on, UDAN is yet to soar<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>News:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>UDAN scheme has recently completed one year.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Important facts:<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>The UDAN (Regional Connectivity Scheme) was launched in 2016 aims to develop the regional aviation market and provide connectivity to un-served and under-served airports of the country through revival of existing air-strips and airports.<\/li>\n<li>Current status of the of UDAN Scheme<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>The Ministry of Civil Aviation had planned to add the 56 non-operational airports to the aviation map\u00a0 only 16 are ready.<\/li>\n<li>Out of 25 , Only 10 under-served airports which has been developed.<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0 Subsidiary airline such as Air India subsidiary Alliance Air etc have been able to deliver on most or all the routes assigned to them.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li>There are Multiple factor which lead to poor performance of the UDAN include:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Irregular services of the Airlines<\/li>\n<li>Lack of trained pilots<\/li>\n<li>Availability of few planes due to technical issues.<\/li>\n<li>The frequent cancellation rates of flights<\/li>\n<li>The UDAN scheme has maintained the entry barriers low and less regulatory procedures to attract more players but it counterproductive for the scheme.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li>Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA) in a report suggests:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>There is little or no business for small and independent operators<\/li>\n<li>The Operating use of older equipment on routes dispersed across multiple stations is of great concern<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol start=\"6\">\n<li>Major Challenges with the Scheme<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Infrastructure bottlenecks has led to lower the pace in implementation the scheme.<\/li>\n<li>Some airports owned by State governments and private players have been hesitant in participating because of low profiting making.<\/li>\n<li>Many obligation of scheme have made airline player to show their reluctance in participating.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol start=\"7\">\n<li>Achievement of the Scheme<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Many routes have seen a steady rise in the number of passengers<\/li>\n<li>The cumulative average of seat occupancy has increased from 55% to 70% in a year<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol start=\"8\">\n<li>Way forward<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>The northeast should be connected to maximum the passenger traffic<\/li>\n<li>Regional Connectivity Scheme have less competition and competitive pressures and should be proactively used by new startups.<\/li>\n<li>The government should take stakeholder in confidence to make UDAN scheme a success.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A year on, UDAN is yet to soar News: UDAN scheme has recently completed one year.
