The fossil was found is located in <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Panandhro, in the western state of Gujarat. <\/span>It has been named as vasuki after\u00a0the mythical snake king Vasuki, who is seen in coil around the neck of the Hindu deity Lord Shiva.<\/p>\n<p>2. The reptile\u00a0could have been anywhere between<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> 10 metres and 15 metres long and weighed up to 2,200 pounds (1,000 kilogrammes).<\/span><\/p>\n<p>3. It belonged to the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">now-extinct Madtsoiidae snake family<\/span> but represents a unique lineage from India.<\/p>\n<p>4. 27 vertebrae has been found in which some of them are in their original position within the spine. They believe Vasuki resembled <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">a large python and lacked venom.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>5. They also concluded that Vasuki was a<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> slow-moving predator<\/span> that would control <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">its prey through constriction like anacondas and pythons. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>6. This snake lived in a <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">marshy swamp<\/span> near the coast at a time when global temperatures were higher than today.<\/p>\n<p>7.
