{"id":29210,"date":"2018-10-24T17:35:23","date_gmt":"2018-10-24T12:05:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=29210"},"modified":"2018-10-24T17:35:23","modified_gmt":"2018-10-24T12:05:23","slug":"premature-deaths-due-to-air-pollution-study","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/premature-deaths-due-to-air-pollution-study\/","title":{"rendered":"Premature Deaths due to Air Pollution: Study"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Premature Deaths due to Air Pollution: Study<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>News:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>According to a recent study, air pollution is the principal reason for high number of premature deaths in 11 North Indian cities<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong><u>Important Facts:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>The study titled \u2018<strong><em>Know what you breathe\u2019<\/em><\/strong> has been conducted jointly by IIT-Delhi and Centre for Environment and Energy Development (CEED)<\/li>\n<li>The study was conducted in 11 cities: Allahabad, Kanpur, Lucknow, Meerut, Varanasi and Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh, Patna, Gaya, and Muzaffarpur in Bihar and Ranchi in Jharkhand<\/li>\n<li>The study calculated annual mortality burden. It used averages of recorded deaths caused due to: i) Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), ii) Acute Lower Respiratory Infection (ALRI), iii) Coronary Disease, iv) Stroke and v) Lung Cancer<\/li>\n<li><strong>Major Findings of the Study:<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Mean annual ambient PM2.5 concentration: 75-120%.
