Among them, 12% were facing serious charges punishable with 5 years or more of imprisonment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>NOTE-Amicus Curiae meaning<\/strong>&#8211; Friend Of the court<\/p>\n<p>2) As per data from the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Registrar Generals of State High Courts,<\/span> till January, there were 4,472 unresolved criminal cases against lawmakers.<\/p>\n<p>3) In the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">19th report<\/span>, the amicus curiae noted that out of 5,175 pending cases as of November 2022, 2,116 cases (40%) had been awaiting trial for over 5 years.<\/p>\n<p>4) Information regarding cases in<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> Special Courts designated<\/span> to try MPs and MLAs was not available on any websites.<\/p>\n<h2>What are the recommendations made by the amicus curiae report?<\/h2>\n<p>1) It highlighted the significance of <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">voter&#8217;s right to information<\/span>.
