Why in the news?<\/h2>\n

The “Housing for All by 2022<\/strong>” program, targeting both urban and rural areas under the PMAY<\/span> (Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana<\/span>) scheme has been a major scheme of the current government.<\/p>\n

About<\/strong><\/td>\nIt was initiated in the 2015 by Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Scheme type<\/strong><\/td>\nPMAY is a centrally sponsored scheme<\/span> (Both the Union and the State governments financially contribute to it)<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Objective<\/strong><\/td>\na) Rehabilitation of slum dwellers<\/span> with private developers\u2019 participation
\nb) Promotion of affordable housing for the weaker sections<\/span> through Credit Linked Subsidy Schemes (CLSS)
\nc) Providing subsidy for Beneficiary-led Construction (BLC).<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Components<\/strong><\/td>\n1. The scheme has two components: PMAY-Urban and PMAY-Rural, which cater to the urban and rural areas respectively
\n2. <\/span><\/span>The scheme is being implemented through four verticals
\na) Beneficiary Linked Construction (BLC):<\/span> Subsidy for beneficiary-led individual house construction \/enhancement.
\nb) Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS):<\/span> Promotion of affordable housing for weaker sections through credit subsidy.
\nc) Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP):<\/span> Creation of houses by both public and private sectors.
\nd) <\/span>In-Situ Slum Redevelopment (ISSR):<\/span> Rehabilitation of slum dwellers with the participation of private developers using land as a resource.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
