1. About: <\/strong>a) In March 2022, during the fifth session of the UN Environment Assembly,<\/span> a landmark resolution was adopted to establish an international legally binding instrument (ILBI)<\/span> addressing plastic pollution, particularly in marine environments.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

b)\u00a0The INC has been scheduled to convene five times by the end of 2024<\/span> to formulate the<\/span> specific content of the ILBI<\/span>.<\/p>\n

2. Aim:<\/strong> This instrument aims to encompass the entire life cycle of plastic, covering aspects such as production, design, and disposal.<\/span><\/p>\n

3. Goal of the global plastics treaty:<\/strong> The goal of the global plastics treaty is to establish a framework of global standards concerning accountability, responsibilities, financing, material\/chemical standards, and import\/export restrictions, along with setting targets.<\/span><\/p>\n

4. Implementing<\/strong> Agency:<\/strong> Countries will be responsible<\/span> for implementing policies aligned with these global standards to achieve the set targets.<\/p>\n

5. Focus-<\/strong> Their focus is on reducing unnecessary plastic usage<\/span> while still employing it for critical purposes<\/span> such as renewable energy.<\/p>\n
