Currently, the heat content<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> is rising at 4.5 zetta-joules per decade<span style=\"color: #333333;\">. The future<\/span><\/span> projections suggest an increase in the heat content to <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">16\u201322 zetta-joules per decade<\/span>.<\/p>\n<h2>Impact of the Increased Heating of the Indian Ocean<\/h2>\n<p><strong>1. Rising sea levels:<\/strong> In the Indian Ocean, thermal expansion alone accounts for more than half of the sea-level rise. This<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> surpasses the effects of glacier and sea-ice melting combined.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Disruption of Indian monsoon: <\/strong>Projections suggest <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">a 66% rise in extreme dipole events<span style=\"color: #333333;\"> which can lead to deficient Indian Monsoon.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Induce marine heatwaves-<\/strong> This heating of the Indian ocean can give rise to near-permanent marine heatwaves.<\/p>\n<h2>Marine Heatwaves<\/h2>\n<p>A marine heat wave is a coherent area of extreme warm sea surface temperature that persists for days to months.
