Why in the News?<\/h2>\n

Shri. V. Srinivas, Secretary of DARPG, will lead a 4-member delegation to Bangladesh from April 28-30, 2024. They will engage in bilateral discussions to renew the MOU between NCGG India and the Bangladesh Ministry of Public Administration for 2024-2029.<\/p>\n

About National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG)<\/h2>\n

1. About NCGG:<\/strong> It is an apex\u2013level autonomous institution<\/span> under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

2.\u00a0Establishment:\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0It was set by the Government of India in 2014.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

3. Origin:<\/strong> The Centre traces its origin to the National Institute of Administrative Research (NIAR), which was set up in 1995 by the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA). <\/span>NIAR was subsequently rechristened and subsumed into NCGG.<\/p>\n

4.\u00a0Objectives:<\/strong> It has wide range of objectives:<\/p>\n

a) To function as a\u00a0national repository on information on best practices, initiatives and methodologies<\/span>\u00a0that promote Good Governance, e-Governance etc.<\/p>\n

b) To\u00a0advise on key issues in governance and develop synergy<\/span>\u00a0across various Ministries\/ Departments of GoI, and State Governments.<\/p>\n

c) To engage in provision of consultancy services in and outside the country<\/span><\/p>\n

5. Mandate: <\/strong>Its mandate includes governance, policy reforms, capacity building, and training for civil servants and technocrats in India and other developing nations. It also serves as a think tank.<\/strong><\/p>\n

6. Governing Body: <\/strong>The affairs of the NCGG are managed under the overall superintendence and direction of the Governing Body, which is headed by the Cabinet Secretary.<\/span><\/p>\n

a) It has Secretaries of 9 ministries\/ departments and 5 eminent persons<\/span> viz. academicians, eminent administrators, specialists, eminent innovators, heads of reputed institutions as members.<\/p>\n

b) The Director General,<\/span> who is the Chief Executive of NCGG, acts as the Member\u2013Secretary of the Governing Body.<\/span><\/p>\n
