\n About<\/strong><\/td>\n Diplomatic and Official passports are issued to people holding diplomatic status<\/span> or deputed by the Government of India<\/span> for official duty abroad.
\nIt has maroon covers and is valid for five years or less<\/span>.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n\n Benefits<\/strong><\/td>\n Diplomatic passport holders enjoy specific privileges and immunities<\/span>. These include-
\na. Exemption from arrest, detention
\nb. Exemption from certain legal proceedings within the host country.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n\n Issued To\u00a0<\/strong><\/td>\n It is issued by the MEA\u2019s Consular, Passport & Visa Division.<\/span> It is issued to the following five categories of people-
\na. Those with diplomatic status
\nb. Government-appointed individuals travelling abroad for official business
\nc. Officers working under the branches A and B of Indian Foreign Service (IFS)
\nd. Relatives and immediate family of officers employed in IFS and MEA.
\ne. Selected individuals authorized to undertake official travel on behalf of the government.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n\n Grounds of revocation of passport<\/strong><\/td>\n The Passport Act 1967<\/span> provides for the ground of revocation of diplomatic passports. The grounds are mentioned as follows-
\na. if the holder is in wrongful possession
\nb. if it was obtained by the suppression of material information
\nc. Interests of the sovereignty and integrity of India, or friendly relations of India with any foreign country.
\nd. Conviction by a court in India and sentenced to imprisonment for not less than two years, after the issue of the passport.
\ne. Orders from a court during proceedings with respect to an offence allegedly carried out by the passport holder before a criminal court<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\nDifference between diplomatic passport and regular passport<\/h2>\n
