This Group also includes langurs from South and Southeast Asia.<br \/>\n<strong>Cercopithecine-<\/strong> These are onmivores and include animals in their diet. Monkey<\/h2>\n<p>There have been various threats to the survival of the primitive species:<\/p>\n<p><strong>a) Habitat loss-<\/strong>\u00a0It is the primary threat to colobus monkeys today due to <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">expansion of human populations.<\/span><br \/>\n<strong>b) Hunting-<\/strong>\u00a0They have been hunted for their <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">beautiful fur and skin<\/span> as it has been used to make dance costumes, hats, and capes.<br \/>\n<strong>c) Predators- <\/strong>They are often <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">preyed upon by other predators<\/span> such as chimpanzee, leopard etc.<\/p>\n<h2>What Conservation efforts are required<\/h2>\n<p>Being an <span style=\"color: #333333;\">indicator species,<\/span> red colobus monkey needs conservation measures such as:<br \/>\n<strong>a) Financial support<\/strong>-More <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">economic investment to create and manage protected areas<\/span> for red colobus monkeys.<br \/>\n<strong>b) Community engagement-<\/strong> There is need to <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">provide support to and engaging with communities<\/span> that live in proximity to these primates.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #333333;\"><strong>c)<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><strong> Survey based study-<\/strong><\/span>Survey should be carried out<\/span> to estimate the exact populations of these monkeys and creating awareness about their conservation value.<br \/>\n<strong>d) Legal safeguard-<\/strong> They<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> require legal safeguards<\/span> and should be<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> designated as priority species for conservation<\/span> in national legislations and international
