These are mentioned below-<br \/>\na. Country&#8217;s currency convertibility.<br \/>\nb. Wage rates determination by free bargaining between labour and management<br \/>\nc. Ease of FDI inflow<br \/>\nd. State control over the ownership of plants and machineries,\u00a0price and output decisions<br \/>\ne. Human rights<\/p>\n<p><strong>Present &#8216;Non-Market Economies&#8217;-<\/strong> At present, the US has designated 12 countries as non-market economies. This includes <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Russia, <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">China<\/span>, <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Vietnam<\/span> and some <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">countries which used to be a part of the erstwhile Soviet Union<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Implications of Designation as a &#8216;Non-market economy&#8217;<\/h2>\n<p>The non-market economy label allows the US to <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">impose \u201canti-dumping\u201d duties<\/span> on goods imported from designated countries. The level of anti-dumping duties is determined by relying on the prices of import from a third country.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For ex-<\/strong> In <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">case of Vietnam&#8217;s exports to US<\/span>, the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">anti-dumping duty is imposed<\/span> taking into <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">consideration the final export landing price of goods from Bangladesh<\/span>.<\/p>\n<h2>Challenges in removal of name from &#8216;Non-market economies&#8217; List<\/h2>\n<p><strong>1. Opposition from US steel makers and the American Shrimp Processors Association-<\/strong> The push of Vietnam has been opposed by US business associations, which cite reasons of state control of economy in Vietnam.<strong> For ex-<\/strong> <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Vietnam\u2019s restrictions on land ownership<\/span>, <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">weak labour laws<\/span>, and <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">lower shrimp duties<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Risks of Chinese circumvention of anti-dumping duties-<\/strong> <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Chinese state firms have invested heavily in Vietnam<\/span>.
