\"Cook<\/p>\n

1. Cook Islands is a self-governing island state<\/span> in free association with New Zealand.<\/p>\n

2. It is located in the South Pacific Ocean. Its capital is<\/span> Avarua on Rarotonga Island.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

3. The Cook Islands<\/span> comprise 15 islands <\/span>divided into the\u00a0Northern\u00a0and\u00a0Southern island\u00a0groups.<\/p>\n

a. The northern islands <\/strong>are\u00a0mostly low-lying and sparsely populated coral atolls; and include the islands of Manihiki<\/span>, Nassau<\/span>, Penrhyn<\/span>, Pukapuka<\/span>, Rakahanga<\/span>, and Suwarrow<\/span>. These islands are covered in light vegetation and equipped with white sand beaches.<\/p>\n

B. The southern islands<\/strong>\u00a0generally consist of much larger higher islands that are\u00a0volcanic in origin and more densely populated.<\/p>\n

3. Highest and lowest point:<\/strong> The highest point is Te Manga on the Rarotonga island<\/span> and the lowest point is the Pacific Ocean (0m).<\/p>\n

4. Flora and fauna: <\/strong>The Cook Islands has a unique tropical ecosystem. This includes approximately 100 native ferns<\/span>, 200 flowering plants<\/span>, 500 fish species<\/span>, a dozen lizards<\/span>, landbirds<\/span>, shellfish<\/span>, migrant birds<\/span>, resident seabirds, as well as marine turtles and humpback whales<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
