{"id":29591,"date":"2018-10-26T11:23:24","date_gmt":"2018-10-26T05:53:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=29591"},"modified":"2018-10-26T11:23:24","modified_gmt":"2018-10-26T05:53:24","slug":"gst-council-approves-single-form-for-filing-of-returns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/gst-council-approves-single-form-for-filing-of-returns\/","title":{"rendered":"GST Council approves single form for filing of returns"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/todays-paper\/gst-council-approves-single-form-for-filing-of-returns\/article23778466.ece\">GST Council approves single form for filing of returns<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>What has happened?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Goods and Services Tax Council on Friday decided to convert the GST Network into a 100% government enterprise, and implement a single form for GST filing from the current three.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Background<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>27<sup>th<\/sup> meeting of GST Council<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cess on sugar<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Council also decided to create a Group of Ministers to review the plan for imposition of a cess on sugar<\/li>\n<li>The cess was meant to subsidise sugarcane farmers as their production cost is much higher than the selling price.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Returns filing reconciled<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Council has also decided to create another GoM to consider implementation of a 2% incentive for digital transactions<\/p>\n<p><strong>Single form <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Council approved a single, monthly return form that would become applicable in six months.
