Transmission<\/td>\nPrimarily through mosquito bites<\/span>; birds are the natural hosts.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Transmission Cycle<\/td>\n1. Culex mosquitoes is vector.
\n2. Birds are reservoir hosts which maintain the virus in nature.

Infection Process<\/td>\n1. A mosquito bites an infected bird and acquires the virus.
\n2. The virus incubates in the mosquito, reaching its salivary glands.
\n3. The infected mosquito transmits WNV to humans and animals during subsequent bites.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Human Risk and Prevention<\/td>\n1. Human-to-human transmission through casual contact is not possible.

Prevalence and Impact in India<\/h2>\n

1. First Detection:<\/strong> Antibodies first identified in humans in Mumbai, 1952.<\/p>\n

2. Regional Reports:<\/strong> Virus detected in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and West Bengal.<\/p>\n

3. Associated Health Issues:<\/strong> Linked to eye infections in Tamil Nadu and encephalitis outbreaks in Kerala.<\/p>\n
