{"id":29609,"date":"2018-10-26T11:27:59","date_gmt":"2018-10-26T05:57:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=29609"},"modified":"2018-10-26T11:27:59","modified_gmt":"2018-10-26T05:57:59","slug":"aiib-not-a-threat-can-cooperate-adb-president","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/aiib-not-a-threat-can-cooperate-adb-president\/","title":{"rendered":"AIIB not a threat, can cooperate: ADB president"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/todays-paper\/tp-business\/aiib-not-a-threat-can-cooperate-adb-president\/article23765393.ece\"><strong>AIIB not a threat, can cooperate: ADB president<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>What has happened?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The rise of China-led The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) is not seen as a threat to Asian Development Bank (ADB) and in fact, both can cooperate to finance the large infrastructure funding needs, Takehiko Nakao, president of the ADB, said on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p><strong>China\u2019s clout<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In 2016, China unveiled the international development bank as Beijing sought to change the unwritten rule of the financing game.<\/li>\n<li>With several large countries agreeing to join the bank, despite the United States\u2019 reservation, it reflected China\u2019s growing clout<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Long-term strategy<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>ADB has initiated a long-term \u2018Strategy 2030\u2019 to address the changing dynamics \u2014 the way Asian countries need finances to deal with poverty.<\/li>\n<li>The agency was looking at options on how to fund the \u2018one-belt-one road\u2019 initiative, which would connect China with the rest of Eurasia, and was open to collaborate with AIIB<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Regional cooperation<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>On the belt and road initiative (BRI), ADB has an MoU with the Chinese authorities about things to do together<\/li>\n<li>ADB happy to cooperate with BRI when there are appropriate projects because good connectivity is important<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>AIIB not a threat, can cooperate: ADB president What has happened?
